Blinking of eyes is a natural process but have you ever thought why do we blink our eyes ? What exactly the blinking is ?

Blinking is the rapid closing and opening of the eyelid. It is an essential function of the eye that helps spread tears across and remove irritants from the surface of the cornea and conjunctiva. A person approximately blinks once every two to ten seconds. Some animals (for example, tortoises and hamsters) blink their eyes independently of each other.

Blinking provides moisture to the eye by irrigation using tears and a lubricant the eyes secrete. The eyelid provides suction across the eye from the tear duct to the entire eyeball so that it will not become dry.

Blinking also protects the eye from irritants. Eyelashes are hairs attached to the upper and lower eyelids. They protect our eyes from dust and harmful elements. The eyelashes catch most of these irritants before they reach the eyeball.

Do you know ?

1. A blink takes approximately 300 to 400 milliseconds.
2. You blink your eyes about 20,000 times a day.
3. An Infants only blink at an average rate of one or two times in a minute.
4. An adult blinks at an average rate of 10 blinks per minute.
5. When the eyes are focused on object for an extended period of time, such as when
reading, the rate of blinking decreases to about 3-4 times per minute. This is the major
reason that eyes dry out when reading.
6. Our eyes are always the same size from birth.
7. An eyelash lives about 150 days before it falls out.

But now I am 100% sure that you are thinking “Why do clock run Clockwise?”

Mechanical clocks were invented in the Northern Hemisphere (in what is now Iraq) by inventors who were trying to make models of the sun's movement in the sky.

To watch the sun from the Northern Hemisphere (in what is now Iraq), you have to face south. Then the sun will rise on your left and pass over your head to set on your right. Since the hour hand on the clock was made to follow the sun's motion through the sky, it moves from left to right over the top of the clock - clockwise. The hands are actually modeled after the shadow on a sundial.

Therefore, our modern 'clockwise' seems to be an accident of the development of civilization in the Northern Hemisphere and human nature.

If our ancestors had decided to develop civilization in southern Africa, or the Antipodes, clockwise would have been counter-clockwise, simply because everything is reversed south of the Equator.

A sundial designed for North Dakota will work in New Zealand, but the numbers will be backwards.

1 means "One", and
2 means "Two"?

The Roman numerals are easy to understand but what was the logic behind the Phonecian numbers?

The numbers we all use (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) are known as "Arabic " numbers to distinguish them from the " Roman Numerals " (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, etc).

Actually the Arabs popularized these numbers but they were originally used by the early Phonecian Traders to count and keep track of their trading accounts.

It's all about angles !

It's the number of angles. If one writes the numbers down (see below) on a piece of paper in their older forms, one quickly sees why. I have marked the angles with "o"s.

No 1 has one angle.
No 2 has two angles.
No 3 has three angles.
etc.

and "O" has no angles

Interesting, isn't it?
An ancient phonecian manuscript explains this and I thought it to be fascinating.

At training program for top management.

A well-known motivational speaker gathering the entire crowd's attention, said,
"The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman who wasn't my wife !"

The crowd was shocked!
